1977 内蒙古医学院医疗专业毕业,后在内蒙古医学院组胚教研室任助教。1982 北京医科大学细胞遗传学专业研究生毕业,获医学硕士,1983参加日本东京大学医学研究所UICC第10届肿瘤分子生物学研修班,1986-1989 美国国立卫生研究院(NIH),国立癌症研究所分子肿瘤学专业做博士后,1989 - 1991. 美国NIH/NCI分子肿瘤学实验室任副研究员(PI),1991 - 1993 在 美国Fox Chase癌症研究中心分子遗传学实验室客座研究员,1993 起在北京大学临床肿瘤学院,北京肿瘤研究所任职至今。
现任北京大学临床肿瘤学院生化及分子生物学实验室教授,博士生导师,北京肿瘤分子生物学实验室研究员,主任,首席专家。兼任国家重点基础研究规划肿瘤项目专家组成员,WJG,癌症杂志副主编,科学通报特邀编辑,中华医学杂志特邀审稿专家,中国医师协会科技促进委员会委员,北京环境诱变剂学会理事长和中国科学院北京基因组研究所既北京华大基因研究中心客座教授。
作为课题主要负责人之一,在肿瘤生物学和细胞癌变分子调控机理方面做了系统性工作,并积极探索肿瘤基因诊断的临床应用。目前的研究工作主要针对胃癌的多基因变异,开展系统肿瘤生物学研究,利用自然人群中胃粘膜病变的演化并结合大蒜的抗癌作用进行鉴定和克隆肿瘤易感基因的研究,建立基因和蛋白表达谱,同时结合临床开展胃癌标志基因和蛋白的鉴定及临床预后判断,并探索在肿瘤诊断和治疗中的应用。先后承担国家86-3计划、国家973,国家杰出青年基金、国家自然科学基金、北京市自然科学基金项目。同时承担北京市科委、基金委和卫生局资助的北京肿瘤分子生物学实验室、北京基因诊断实验室主任和项目负责人。在国内外发表论文100余篇,其中有30余篇在国际学术刊物和会议发表。在国内外学术会议做特邀报告二十余次。获得国家科技进步二等奖、三等奖各一项,省部级科技进步二等奖四项,获国家发明专利一项。
在开展研究工作的同时特别注重实验室的建设和科学管理,在改善科研环境、规范实验技术、严格操作规程和实验数据的可重复性。其中国家973肿瘤项目技术平台的建立和对外开放受到国内外同行的好评。目前的工作的集中在生物信息、医药资源和高通量技术平台的整合,将利用系统肿瘤生物学的观点和技术体系研究与开发用于肿瘤生物学行为判断和早期诊断的基因标志物并积极开展基因诊断和治疗的临床应用研究。
